Deputation
In June, we were in ten churches in California and Oregon. While we have received more promises of support from churches, we are to a point in deputation that we are only counting the support that has actually started coming in. We are at 94% currently. We have only 16 more churches scheduled before leaving for the Czech Republic!
Family
Steele is still struggling. He has an appointment with an immunologist in August, but probably will not be able to start college this year. This is pretty discouraging for him and he is down.
As a stark contrast to Steele struggling with his health, Lisa and Nathan have been left to their own devices (no children) for the summer with Makayla staying with Lisa’s parents for the summer. This has meant that we have been able to go out and hike in a lot of beautiful places on the west coast. We are calling it our two months celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary.
Moving to the Czech Republic
Today (July 1st) we finally got our paperwork back from our immigration lawyer in the Czech Republic! Now we need to get a couple more things signed and send it on to the consulate. There is still time to get everything back in time. However, we did find out that we can get our passports back before the visa is approved and that will give us the ability to travel on a 90 day travel visa if we do not get the approval before leaving. If we need to resort to this, that will mean that we will need to buy a refundable return ticket before leaving that we will cancel once we get approved.
We registered and payed for our school! So, we have plane tickets, an apartment, our school, and Makayla’s school lined out. We still need to put down the deposit on the apartment and get the medical insurance that we will need in the Czech Republic. We received $5,500 for these costs. That leaves only $9,538 left for start-up costs. Thank you to all of you who have been generous and helped us with these initial costs.
We are in the final stretch here and are getting excited. Everyone asks if we are scared or nervous, but we are just ready to get to the Czech Republic and to start doing and stop talking. I am sure that we are not even aware of what we should be worried about yet, but we are not borrowing from unknown worries and are just excited to get there.
